Sarah Palin is the former Governor of Alaska.
Sarah Louise Palin was born February 11, 1964, in Sandpoint, Idaho. She moved to Skagway, Alaska before settling in Wasilla in 1972.
Palin played flute and attended Wasilla High School where she became the head of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She also played basketball and cross-country running. She became the co-captain of her female basketball team where she earned the nickname “Sarah Barracuda.”
In 1984 she won Miss Wasilla beauty pageant and was the third place for Miss Alaska pageant. She attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo, Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, North Idaho College, and then finally Matanuska-Susitna College. She finally graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor’s in communications in 1987.
She was elected to Wasilla City Council in 1992. She later became mayor of Wasilla in 1996. She was the first woman to be elected Governor of Alaska where she held the position from 2006 to 2009 when she resigned.
