When Barack Obama was first elected President of the United States, he evoked a sense of hope for the future. Over the years as President he has made some dramatic changes both good and bad, but overall National Polling doesn’t seem to see his vision.
1. Climate Change
Over 47% of Americans say Obama failed on climate change
Obama’s initial response to climate change was the clean power plan. This plan had standards to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 32% from 2005 levels by 2030. Over 47% of Americans disagree with his attempt of handling it opposed to the 45% of people that agree. The main reason it is considered a failure is because it is expensive and overwrought.
2. U.S. and Iran
America turns against Obama after Iran Nuclear Deal
America has been in conflict with Iran for many years now and Obama has begun taking steps to try and resolve this. Over 55% of American citizens disagree with the way that Obama handled U.S. and Iran relations. America does not trust Iran to honor the nuclear deal that Obama has proposed. The country wants to end nuclear sanctions on Iran and wants congress to reject the Iran deal.

Obamacare still is disliked by over 55% of Americans
The Affordable Care Act, or ObamaCare, still to this day remains unpopular. Over 55% of Americans disapproved of the way that Obama handled health care. While Americans tend to approve of individual provisions of the law, they disliked the package in its entirety.
4. Gun Policy

Over 56% of Americans disagree with Obama on gun policy
While Obama himself admits that gun policies have been his toughest topics and frustrations, 56.8% of the American population disagree with the way he has handled gun policy. Most Americans prefer more strict background checks, disagree with his executive orders on guns and do not think that executive orders will prevent more gun related deaths.

Country disagrees with Obama’s cautious approach to ISIS
Over 61% of Americans disagree with the way that Obama dealt with ISIS. Much of the criticism in this topic revolves around the fact that Obama is being too cautious by dismissing the Islamic state as a junior varsity team. Since then, Isis has claimed responsibility for the attacks in San Bernardino, California and Paris.
6. Job Performance
Country is divided about Obama’s employment rates
Unemployment has always been an issue with the U.S., especially since the market crisis in 2008. Over 50% of Americans disagree with president Obama’s job performance. Half of the U.S. population does not believe that he is holding up to his duties. They think that he has the country set up to go in the wrong direction and that he is not proposing solid policies.

Over 56% of Americans disagree with the way Obama has handled foreign affairs. Since the killing of Osama bin Laden in his first term of presidency, citizens have slowly turned against him. After the growth of ISIS, the civil war in Syria and the ongoing war in Iraq, citizens are not thrilled.

Majority of the country believes Obama is failing at a strong economy
It is a large burden of the U.S. President to build a strong economy for the country. Over 52% of Americans disagree with the way that Obama handled the economy, while only 46.8% actually agree. Despite the number of unemployed U.S. citizens decreasing, the theory is that many have left the workforce altogether.
9. Closing the prison at Guantánamo Bay

The Guantanamo Bay detention camp is a United States military prison located within Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, also referred to as “GITMO”, which fronts on Guantánamo Bay in Cuba. This is a prison that caused much controversy over the many years it has been open. Obama has plans to close GITMO which has not gone over well in Congress. Over 53% say it should remain open and 44% say close it and move prisoners to other facilities. Sixty percent of Democrats say it should be closed, while 76% of Republicans and 53% of independents disagree.

Americans say Obama failed to protect the country
Ever since 2001, the United States has been on the defense when it comes to possible attacks from other countries. With the increase in issues with North Korea and Russia, this concern has grown larger and larger every day. Americans are starting to feel unsafe in their own country. In fact, 58% of Americans say Obama has failed at making the country safer.

Immigration has always been a huge topic for Americans, especially in political debates. The debate on immigration has torn the U.S. apart with many believing it is even okay to build a wall separating the U.S. from Mexico. The issue of racism has been around since the country’s birth in the late 1700s. No matter how many laws, organizations, protests or speeches have been given, there has always been a divide amongst the races in the United States. Presidents have tried before to end this issue, including Obama. In the U.S., 59% of people say that Obama has failed to improve race relations within the country.

U.S. citizens have always been weary of what really goes on behind the white house curtain. Politics and specifically politicians have always had a negative connotation to them that they are secretive and non transparent about their true agendas. It is important for a president to put this type of negativity to rest in the country, although 59% of Americans feel Obama has failed on running a transparent administration.
14. Improving America’s Image
Americans strongly believe Obama has failed to bring America a strong image to the world
It is no secret that there are many countries in the world that hate the United States. The U.S. has spent years in and out of countries, trying to solve political issues, remove dictators and bring peace to the Middle East. Although the U.S. believes it is making the world a better place, there are countries that believe it is making it worse. Obama has spent much of his time on improving America’s image in the world, but 60% of Americans say that he has failed.
Most Americans are against the way Obama has handled terrorism
Over 55% of U.S. citizens disagree with the way that Obama dealt with terrorism. Since the Paris attacks in November 2015, even more numbers have pushed further against the president. After the Paris attacks, citizens have changed their views and outlooks on refugees and thought a December 2015 attack was going to come to the country.
